Phenylephrine HCI

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist used as a nasal and ocular decongestant. By constricting dilated blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, it reduces swelling and relieves congestion associated with the common cold, sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis. It is also used topically in ophthalmology for pupil dilation and is a common component of oral cold-and-flu combination products.
