Oxcarbazepine

Oxcarbazepine is a keto-analogue of carbamazepine with a similar sodium-channel-blocking mechanism but improved tolerability and fewer drug interactions, since it avoids the epoxide metabolite responsible for much of carbamazepine’s toxicity. It is used as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures.
