Latanoprost is a synthetic prostaglandin F2α analogue and isopropyl-ester prodrug used as a first-line topical treatment for open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It lowers intraocular pressure by increasing uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humor and is formulated as a preservative-containing ophthalmic solution.
